Patch Notes v1.055 – New Difficulties, New Spells, Enhanced Items, Lots of Talent Changes, Arena + Infinite Arena (with leaderboards), Destructibles, Emotes, Performance Upgrades

TL;DR: Delete your old save data to avoid any bugs with the new patch, try out the new difficulty, find some +1-3 items, try some new spells, try to hit a spot on the Infinite Arena leaderboards

Deleting your old save: Navigate to “(Steam Folder)\steamapps\common\RuneKnights\RuneKnights\Saved\” and delete the entire SaveGames folder.


  • New difficulty levels: Captain and Commander. These difficulties are unlocked after defeating Act 2’s boss in the previous difficulty. Higher difficulties have higher drop rates, better quality gear, higher value gold drops, and more XP per kill.
  • Item Enhancement Levels: Higher difficulties and Act Bosses now drop Enhanced equipment. Enhanced items range from +1 to +3, higher levels drop only in higher difficulties. Enhanced items roll their mods 5 levels higher than normal per Enhancement level and Enhanced weapons have a 3% base damage bonus per Enhancement level. Legendary items also have a small chance to drop as Enhanced.


For now, these enemies are exclusive to the new dungeon to limit the spread of any bugs they might introduce. They will be added to other levels soon.


  • Meteor – Call down a meteor which explodes for 75% spell damage to nearby targets and an additional 75% spell damage to a target it hits directly.
  • Ice Storm – Drains 50 mana per second to create a stationary ice storm which drops ice shards that deal 100% spell damage and burst for 20% spell damage. Targets caught in each burst are Chilled 50% for 3 seconds.
  • Thunderbolt – Cast a bolt of lightning that damages a single target for 75% spell weapon damage and chains to up to 2 additional targets for 50% of the damage dealt.
  • Magic Missile – Drains 50 mana per second to fire 3 missiles per second which track nearby targets. Each missile deals 20% spell damage.
  • Dragonfire – Drains 50 mana per second to create a stream of Dragonfire which inflicts Burning on all targets for 2 seconds. Dragonfire increases Burning DPS by 10% of your spell damage for each second that targets are doused in the flame.
  • Seeker Barrage – Fire 5 arrows which seek out nearby targets. Each arrow deals 50% weapon damage.
  • Barbarous Stomp – Stomp the ground with brutal force, creating a shockwave which damages nearby enemies for 200% combined weapon damage. Guarantees hitstun and applies Hindered, slowing movement and attack speed by 35% for 4 seconds.


  • Survival has been replaced with the Arena. Completing the Arena will unlock the Infinite Arena which features leaderboards for Level 30 parties, separated by difficulty and party size.
  • New radial menu added for easy controller access to menus and meditation. Defaults to Right Thumbstick Button and Middle Mouse Button.
  • Emotes added – Accessible from the new radial menu
  • Destructibles added
  • More stash space is available for purchase with gold
  • Stash is now sortable
  • Meditation now has an animation
  • New meditation colors added for new achievements
  • Level unlocks are now linked to quest completion
  • New keybind to access the World Map in game – Default “M”
  • Xbox/PS4 icons can be set in the input options menu



  • Zabaoth: Face of Death now provides the new Death Aura ability – Drains the life of you and enemies around you. Take 5% of your maximum life in damage each second to deal equal damage to all enemies in aura range.
  • Blocking no longer interferes with any abilities, including channeling abilities
  • Blink spells now blink in the direction you are currently moving. If you are not moving, you will blink forward.
  • Savage Strike now requires a 2H weapon and strikes all enemies in range.
  • Firebolt damage reduced from 125% spell damage to 100% spell damage. Now Burns the target for 10% spell damage per second for 3 seconds. Burning effects stack indefinitely.
  • Super: Fury of Alcaeus now allows you to pass through enemy projectiles without harm.
  • Increased the jump distance on Verndari: Backstep Volley
  • Rapid Fire mana cost removed. Now costs 15 Stamina.
  • Lacerating Strike mana cost removed. Now costs 20 Stamina.
  • Flurry stamina cost reduced from 35 to 20.
  • Flash Dagger cooldown increased from 1 to 3 seconds. Mana cost incrased from 75 to 100.
  • Leap Smash cooldown increased from 2 to 3 seconds.
  • Aggravating Shout mana cost reduced from 150 to 100.
  • Consecration is no longer a charge up ability. Duration increased from 6 to 8 seconds. Damage per second decreased from 30% to 25% combined weapon damage.
  • Bladecrest now works with Heightened Spell talents.
  • Bladecrest now counts as consuming mana for Mana Shield.
  • Meteor and Ice Storm now check for ceilings in the way of spawning.
  • Piercing Shot renamed to Mystic Arrow. Damage increased from 75% to 100% weapon damage.
  • Summon Bear taunt duration increased from 5 to 6 seconds.
  • Frost Shield’s Chill effect intensity increased from 25% to 30%.
  • Sendatu’s Crown bonus resistance reduced from 50% to 30%. Resistance cap reduced from 90% to 80%. Duration reduced from 20 to 15 seconds.
  • Verndari’s Quill arrow damage bonus increased from 100% to 200% extra damage.
  • Strength of Zabaoth rework: Now makes you massive and increases bonus damage by 100%.
  • Grasping Vines now requires a Staff or Focus to cast.
  • Liberating Shout duration reduced from 8 to 6 seconds. Movement speed bonus increased to 50%.
  • Updated animation for Leap Smash.
  • Updated VFX for Bladecrest.
  • Bladecrest now considers which weapon is being used while dual-wielding.
  • Increased the hitbox size of Flash Dagger.
  • Runic Serration cooldown reduced from 15 to 12 seconds. Added VFX and SFX.
  • Corrected Flame Dash’s tooltip to say that it deals 40% weapon damage per second. It incorrectly stated that it dealt 20% weapon damage per second.


  • All Resistance passives have been increased from 1.5% to 2.5% per point.
  • Orias: New Tier 1 Talent. Kinetic Absorption – After parrying an attack, your next non-channeled skill cost 30% less mana.
  • Orias: Cleaving Force removed.
  • Orias: Heavy Shielding no longer doubles the cooldown between blocks.
  • Orias: Menace moved to Tier 2, now also increases damage dealt by 20% while blocking.
  • Orias: Vicious Parry moved to Tier 2 and Heavy Shielding moved to Tier 1.
  • Alcaeus: Stalker moved to Tier 2 from Tier 1
  • Alcaeus: Elusive has new additional effects – Dodge Roll stamina cost reduced by 10. Faster recovery after roll.
  • Alcaeus’ Max Stamina passive has been replaced with 1H Crit Chance.
  • Alcaeus: Hypovolemic Shock replaced with Relentless – Replenish 30 Health, 10 Stamina and gain 20% increased Movement Speed for 3 seconds on kill.
  • Verndari: Arrowstorm now increased Attack Speed by 20% per stack (from 10%.) Max stacks reduced to 5 from 10.
  • Verndari: Potion of the Midnight Howl – Summoned wolves that are not in combat will now aggro to a target you hit with a fully charged arrow.
  • Verndari: Multishot has been replaced with Clean Kill: Fully charged arrows deal 100% more damage to targets at full health.
  • Ehtiras: Mana Vampire mana leech increased from 2% to 5%.
  • Zabaoth: Revenge now applies VFX to marked targets, mark is consumed on the next attack against them, and damage bonus is increased from 20% to 30%.


  • Implicit mods now roll with a greater range of mod levels
  • 2H melee range increased
  • Dual wield attack speed has been increased significantly
  • 1H melee weapon base damage has been increased by 10%
  • Increased the size of the area that counts as being behind a target
  • Effectiveness of Supercrit reduced by 50%
  • The Chilled effect now slows AI tracking speed during attacks
  • Health Regen from mods decreased by 50%. Passive bonus from talents unaffected.
  • Move Speed no longer rolls randomly as a non-implicit mod. It is still available as an implicit via Twist of Fate.
  • Damage over time effects no longer proc On-Hit effects.
  • Passive talents now show a “Total Bonus Received” readout
  • Bonus Stat Summary now shows uncapped Cooldown Reduction %
  • Magic Find now increases item quantity in addition to quality, and legendary drop rate for bosses
  • Hitstunning an elite during their spellcast will interrupt the spell
  • Summoner and Demon Wolf elite enemies can now spawn outside of Avatar’s Reach
  • Avatar’s Reach is now the boss level of Act 2
  • Reduced gold rewards from quests
  • Meditation can no longer be used while airborne
  • Minion movement speed now scales slightly with level
  • Item price calculations and gold economy have been completely overhauled


  • Significantly improved overall game performance
  • Significantly improved enemy AI (Most notably, fixed that enemies would refuse to attack your minions even when those minions were blocking them from moving.)
  • Minions are now marked on the minimap
  • Knights now conjure an arrow from runic energy when they draw back their bow. When the arrow is fired, it coalesces into a physical form.
  • The border of toggle-able skills now turns gold while they are active
  • Killing a boss now displays a new notification
  • Equipment tooltips will now show the level of each mod while Dodge/Sprint is held down (Shift by default)
  • Further increased melee hit camera shake
  • Focus rotation animation smoothed out
  • Firebolt and Frostbolt animations updated
  • Updated Burning and Ignite VFX
  • More improvements to network performance
  • If an item has a legendary implicit, the “Level: X” readout will turn orange
  • Items now update their price each time they’re modified
  • Quest rewards now display the item’s price
  • The talent menu now shows the total number of points invested in a tree
  • Hotkey slots changes now save reliably and don’t reset on gear changes
  • Decreased the amount of empty space on Cave levels
  • Added SFX to enemy firefly projectiles
  • Updated VFX and SFX for Volcanic Knight, Cryomancer, and Blight Priest spellcasts
  • Humanoid enemies now have more death sounds
  • Equipped weapons now affect ragdolls and destructibles
  • Skill icons for Supers now read out numerically how much charge you currently have
  • All items are now sellable and show prices in their tooltip


  • Various UI fixes
  • Fixed weird interactions with meditation and channeling skills
  • Fixed a bug where Unstable Runes was not working
  • Fixed a bug where Heavy Knights would slow down during their charge as they approached you
  • Fixed a bug where Volcanic Knights could instantly deal the damage from their nova without charging it
  • Fixed a bug where female characters could not attack on their first time loading into a map
  • Fixed a bug where female characters would play male voicelines during multiplayer
  • Fixed a bug where skill hotkeys would display NONE for bound key
  • Fixed a bug where changing your gear would kill your wolves summoner from Verndari: Potion of the Midnight Howl
  • Fixed a bug where completing the Night Cave quest was impossible
  • Fixed a bug where Legendary weapon effects would not apply if the weapon was equipped in the offhand slot
  • Fixed a bug where Max Stamina and Stamina Regen could not roll while using Twists of Fate.
  • Fixed a bug where some enemies would keep attacking while dead. Remember to double-tap.
  • Fixed a bug where some enemies would just stand around for a while after being hitstunned
  • Fixed a bug where meditation could lock out skills if used while casting an ability
  • Fixed a bug where Spiders could end their charge early
  • Fixed a bug where your attack speed could drop indefinitely following the Chilled effect
  • Fixed a bug where items would be deleted instead of remaining on the ground if your inventory was full.
  • Fixed a bug with some enemies’ collision on death.
  • Fixed a bug where Flurry attacks always applied the Attack From Behind bonus.
  • Fixed a bug where game settings were being overridden to defaults on loading the main menu
  • Fixed a bug where you could drop items through the environment and lose them
  • Fixed a bug where the combat state would not reset
  • Fixed a bug with ragdoll collisions
  • Fixed a bug where music volume would default to 0
  • Fixed a bug where some enemies could not receive headshots
  • Fixed a bug with your starting sword price
